On Sunday I was terrible on the lights even though I qualified #1 in Sport Compact and wound up in 2nd place. The embarrassing part is there were only two cars in the class LOL. Poor showing for that FWD/Tuner bunch even though there was about 40 or more of those young guys there for the Test and Tune on Friday night. No freaking way those guys will come back on Saturday for Gamblers Racing or on Sunday for class points. BTW the only other Sport Compact besides me on Sunday was another senior citizen and close friend Gus Longaphie from Prince Edward Island. Only went one round in Sportsman class but the guys I usually have to battle for points went out in the first round so I dodged a bullet there. Off to Raceway Park PEI this Friday for round 2 of the ADRA points series - 1/8 mile this time where my car is normally more consistent so I've got high hopes for some of those Sport/Compact and Sportsman class points and Spencer's 9.90 Pro Tree series is there this weekend as well. We're pretty sure the convertor is going away in Spencer's Vega so we're going to swap it out along with his spare transmission sometime this week before we head for PEI. He's staying at his summer cottage out at Dad's farm for the week so we'll travel together to PEI. He will head home to Halifax afterwards then our next event will be the giant $$$ Downeast Nationals Box/No Box event at Miramichi, New Brunswick two weeks later. My plan is to leave racecar and trailer at my friend Jeff's house in PEI and pick it up on the way to Miramichi. Will save me a ton of towing miles by not having to drag it home from PEI then back all the way to Miramichi and since Jeff's place is more than halfway between here and Miramichi it's a big saving in towing miles. Jeff said he might possibly even find someone to take it to Miramichi for me and that would be a major score.

We're back for our last leg of the fund raising tour. We met Mark and Dianne on their way home,in Red Deer Alberta. One Fund Raiser there then one in Kamloops B.C. We traveled though 100+ degree heat without any problems with the MLC pickup. Mark and Dianne have raised just over 30,000 this far. It was fun and a privilege to be a part of it.

Had a different sort of weekend. The ferry ride was like a car show with upwards of 100+ antique cars, hot rods, musclecars, customs and early pickups going to a major show and shine in PEI. Saturday the track was packed with the Pro Tree bunch, Stock/Superstock and the regular classes going for ADRA points. Managed to go a few rounds in both Box and No Box on Saturday and although the car was deadly I could not cut a consistent light. Got into a major disagreement with the ADRA over their "politics" so I told the ADRA executive to shove their points series where the sun don't shine and decided to head home early Sunday instead. To make a long story short problems with the timing system killed class runoffs on Sunday just as they were set to qualify. The track owner sent me a text late last night with a bunch of LOLs saying the timing system HAD TO be on my side of the conflict with the ADRA since it started screwing up just as I was pulling out of the gate. Normally Kevin(the owner) is pretty crusty but he saw the whole situation with me and the ADRA and the timing system as pure karma.
Gerard Bryden's Monday Night photo feature on the Maritime Drag Racers Message board will have lots of pics from Saturday so I'll post a link after he gets it up on the board.

Washed the car yesterday. I installed some extra stainless steel trim parts and figured since it was to be a nice day today I would install the fenderwell moldings. Got the back two on and managed to cut two fingers, one on each hand, and it started raining!!!!!! What is that all about? It was to be nice all day. Put the car away and wiped it down again. Ate a small lunch and watched one of my favorite movies.... Office Space. Seems fitting after the morning I've had.

Raced on Saturday and rained on Sunday. That has happened way too many times here in the Maritimes this season. Full report tomorrow when my fingers uncurl from the 7+ hours of death grip I had on the steering wheel coming home in torrential rain.

I stopped at a metal shop to get two pieces of 1/8" x 1 1/2 wide x 39" and they were just starting lunch so I told them I would come back tomorrow to pick them up. Cleaned the gutters on the garage yesterday in the high 80 degree heat along with the high humidity and they indeed needed cleaned as I had enough silver maple sprouts to plant a forest. I should never have to clean them again as the neighbor cut that monster maple tree down a month ago. Yippeeeeeeee!

Downeast Nationals report Friday trip to Miramichi was uneventful with sunshine and not a lot of traffic. Broke the 589km(366 miles)trip up into three segments by stopping twice for fuel even though I didn't need it. Got a few time trials in but had a devil of a time with the tree. They had pointed the top amber bulbs on both sides straight back but left the other two pointed in the normal direction. This was strictly for the crossover delay box people that came here from the USA and eastern Canada since the tree is shielded at every track here in the Maritimes and a lot of us had problems with the change. I kept thinking the 2nd bulb was my first and it made me waaay late a few times before I got a little adjusted. Lots of locals actually let go of their trans brake buttons when the other guy's top bulb came on - no problem if you're using the crossover feature but most of the local racers don't have one. Other than that the event was a huge success in terms of car counts, spectator numbers and payouts even though the event was rain shortened. With the tree problems distracting me I went out first round in the $5K race with a terribly late light even though I was only .02 off my dial-in. Bought back in but then went red instead of late. In the next $5K race I got by a dragster first round but then broke out in the second round against a really fast sled. Highlight of my weekend was that red light run - I was dialed 18.10 and Dave Powell's Top Sportsman Cougar with a Jon Kaase 632 was dialed at 7.10. When they announced the pairing every single person in the place swarmed the fences to watch. Unfortunately I went .484 red and handed Dave the win but he still made the run. Let me tell you there is no rush greater than getting to the stripe first and having your opponent go by you 11 seconds quicker and 110 mph faster. I was much closer to my dial(18.11 on an 18.10) than his 7.21 on a 7.10 and my .484 light was closer to .500 than his .533. Makes me wonder what might have happened if I had not lit the big red bulb. They had bands on stage Friday night and Saturday night, some of the best food I ever had at a track and all kinds of merchandise draws from car hoists to generators to tool boxes and even split tickets. One of the best weekends ever. As promised here's a bunch of pics my pal Brian Smith sent me. I made them into a slideshow since it's a little easier for me to do that than actually post 30 photos in here. There's even one of Tinkerbell in there and Dave Powell's yellow Cougar. smg.photobucket.com/user/maritimedragracing/slideshow/Downeast%20Nationals%202015

At the Dental specialist today. I have an infection around the tooth. A CT scan showed the tooth is cracked top to bottom. An extraction is the only option .
