Early yesterday morning Sharon woke up with a migraine headache so I let her sleep till about 9:00. She told me she was hungry so we went for breakfast and stopped to get gas for $2.51 while we were out. We came home and she told me she felt much better so she mowed the lawn while I did some transplanting, sprayed the weeds in the driveway, then we trimmed the hedges and went after some limestone for the parking area. I had 400 lbs. shy of two ton on the old truck and had the air bags pumped to 60 lbs. I put the new tires to the test with that load. When I raised the bed to dump it the floor of the bed bowed a little as the cross member is rusting out so I will have to reinforce that soon or it will fail on me. I should take it to Don as he has a working knowledge of fixing those old GM trucks but I couldn't afford the gas to get there and back!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I had my brother-in-law come to help me install a water line to the back porch. Well the drilling and water line went fairly slick but the basement step cover was a real bear. I have a sheet of steel bolted to a 3/4" sheet of pressure treated plywood so that the cover is flush with the back porch floor. It came out easy enough but when we went to put it back in it would not sit flat as the moisture had swelled the plywood and we cut and hacked on it for over three hours to get it to sit flush again. I had to take a flashlight and get under it then have him put the cover on so I could finally figure out where it was hanging up. Now my brother-in-law is one ornery guy and he offered me a bottle of water before he closed the cover in case he couldn't get the cover off? That wasn't too reassuring for me!!!!!!!!! But we got it done and everything is back to normal now. All I have to do is get some fittings and a drain valve for the PVC pipe to hook it into the water line.

Up at 7:00, at the track before 8:00, placed 200 orange cones to define the lanes, remeasured every distance for every sensor, walked many miles running wires and stringing crowd control ropes, wolfed down coffee and pizza at 3:00 PM, fought with bad connections and broken wires and bad photocells until 4:30 then went home and got the racecar, went back to the track at 5:15, fought with software glitches and corroded 18 pair cable connectors until we finally got everything working around 8:00 PM.
Backed the car off the trailer, went 18.027 in the right lane, parked it for a half hour then went up and went an 18.028 in the left lane. Figured it doesn't get any better than that so I unhooked the trailer, threw my bike on it and headed home. Back at it 8:00AM tomorrow for time trials all morning then Box and No Box Gamblers racing at 1:00PM.

The race car had an awesome day with a runner-up in the Electronics Gamblers Race in spite of the driver's attempt to sabotage every pass. I only had one good light all day and that was a .507 - rest of the round wins were because I didn't screw up as bad as the guy in the other lane. Lost round one of the No Box race by being sound asleep at the tree LOL. Sport/Compact and Sportsman class points up for grabs tomorrow and if today is any indication of the driver's skill I had better pray that I qualify well enough to get the first round bye if there's an uneven number of cars.
