Thanks for the tip on that, Stimp...glad you had a good time at the caah show, Boyd... I don't know if I posted this already but here's a picture of George's engine compartment. All the rubber parts (plugs on carb, plastic fuel filter, etc) got melted, the wires, hoses and clamps are powdered...according to cousin Bert it's not that bad. The generator and coil are apparently OK. I got a new air cleaner, fuel filter, plug wires, distributor, points & plugs...it's the wiring that I am hung up on. I need to clean the entire compartment as well...

I thought Bert was coming up to help you get George resuscitated? Ya can't kill those pesky bugs.

When this happened, he was extremely disappointed. I haven't heard from him in a while. He put me in touch with his parts guy and I got the parts I talked about but I can see it needs more...but no Bert. I called him and he didn't answer. He has other issues to deal with up there so I'm leaving him alone until I hear from him...it's all good. Thanks, WC1

Cat , unbolt Georges lid and give him a bath and try not to break any wires that are burnt, just cover the air cleaner with a plastic bag to keep the water out out of the carb and hose away ! I use Gunks citrus engine brite cleaner ( part number CEB1) works good on cold engines and no kerosene either ! or use the purple stuff but its caustic so you have to rinse any alumimun off real good , and you have to wear gloves as it will burn you .
as for wiring think of it as a large pedal board or a amplifier . not to hard to fix as your just running wires . the splices are the main key . a notebook and cameraphone can be your best friend . leave all the wires hooked up and peel the tape back 3-4 inches from the fire wall on the harness towards the components and start chasing and making notes ( color of wire and if it has a stripe to the component and type of terminal end , and if its a device with multiple connections draw a picture of it and label the terminals . the wire is 14 gauge except for the generator lead ( the one thats hooked to the stud ) thats 10 gauge , the terminals you can get at home depot or lowes ( gardner bender ) they are better than the ones you get at pepboys the wire I buy at pepboys or carquest if I need short lengths under 10')
I have faith in you ..

Picked another batch of green and yellow beans then cleaned, snapped the ends then blanched them for the freezer. Took the furry critter for a fluff and buff. Haven't been sleeping much the last couple of nights so I caught up on some Z's this afternoon. Had to take Sharon over to the shoe shop to get her purse fixed as it blew a rod (handle) back home and fixed supper. Yellow beans fried in bacon fat, hard boiled eggs mixed with cucumbers and topped with a mayo mix. Polished off her birthday cake too. Yum!!!!!!

With the help of my brother Spencer we took the tank back off the truck where he found a bad connector in the sending unit and repaired it. If he wasn't here I would have bought a new pump and still not have fixed the problem - even worse it would have meant taking the tank off a THIRD time. We managed to get it up on the jack and under the truck last night. Today I've got to get everything hooked back up and get those f***ing front mount bolts lined up again.

Truck is finally mobile again after 3 days fabricating and welding the front tank mount and two days with a fuel pump ground problem and another tank removal. Heading out to Dad's to pick up the race car and trailer shortly..........

Thanks Stimpy for that post. I'm saving that for when it cools off and I will go out there and do it. Here's the car we bought yesterday. 2007 KIA Spectra, 49k miles, perfect condition. Not sure of engine size but it's a 16-valve SOHC EFI rocket. Speedometer goes up to 140. I kinda chuckled when I saw that, but when I was driving it home, I found out that those numbers are there for a reason. The guy that owned it had glass-packs put on it. I can drive it like it is (it's going to be Nick's car...I will use it to go to gigs & back) but what sounds great to one guy sounds like poo-poo to another, ya know. I just took these pics of it before Nick went to work with it today. Can't say enough about how great it was for Debby to make the deal for us on this, and for the lady to sell it to us for way less than Blue Book Value. Life is good. WC1

Treated Tinkerbell to a fresh batch of Shell Rotella T 15W40 and a can of STP. Got to find an hour tomorrow to clean it up - Dad mowed around it a couple of times in the last few weeks and it's obvious which way the ride on mower's discharge chute was pointing LOL.

Cucumbers, cucumbers and more cucumbers. I have them sticking out my ears. Thinly sliced a sweet onion and about four good sized cucks then mixed up vinegar, some Splenda, dill weed and black pepper then added water to reduce it. They will have to marinate for a day or two but good eatin'. Took Sharon's mom out for her 81 birthday to Don Pablo's Mexican restaurant for supper and she ordered some spicy beans that made her cry. That'sa spicy! It rained so hard on the way home a couple of cars had their four way flashers on and slowed to about 45 MPH. Thank heavens we don't have vacuum wipers anymore. We will packup the car tonight for the Nostalgia Funny Car Nats at Marion County tomorrow. I hope Zappy can make it, Daryl and Heidi will be there along with the Solid Rock Mustang but no Bandit this year. He is one funny guy and we will miss him this year. So till Sunday night Adios.

Good day/Bad day here. First the bad - Car was totally awesome and could have won it all except for the moron behind the wheel LOL. Made a few time trials "out the back door" this morning and Tinkerbell was dead-on the same exact ET to three decimal places every run at 17.973. First round of Box Gamblers I had a .497 red(DOH!) then came right back up to the lanes for the first round of No Box. Same dial-in at 18.00 for a little cushion at the finish, even the same lane less than ten minutes later and I over-compensated for the red in the first round of box and got a .718 light then lost at the stripe by less than half the difference in reaction times. GRRRR.......BTW when I saw the red light I kept my foot in it at the stripe and got ANOTHER 17.97 but with an 8 instead of a 3(17.978)
Good part of the day was watching my brother Spencer qualify #1 in the Pro Tree 9.90 class and go on to win the class. We fought with the car all morning trying to slow it down but between him pedaling and taking timing out he got it done. Got the huge cheque for the photo-op, a couple of plaques and even $100 for qualifying #1. The Cape Breton Drag Racing Association put on a racer appreciation BBQ with sausage dogs and fresh corn for everyone who stayed at the track after the racing was over. Then I landed home just in time to get cleaned up, slip into my jammie pants and turn on the Sprint Cup race from Bristol. To sum up the day it was perfect weather, mineshaft conditions, a tailwind, a huge car count, lots of spectators and good food. Tinkerbell still needs a better driver though.....
HUGE ADRA and track Points day tomorrow so I'm going to hit the online practice tree tonight a few times and go to bed early to try to be as sharp as possible tomorrow.

Got my reaction time figured out and was over .500 and under .590 all day but gave away the stripe in round one. Dodged a bullet because the guy that's ahead of me in points also went out in the first round. I've got to learn to trust the car - if I had kept my foot in it instead of hitting the brakes I would have won. Oh well, that's racing.....
Now I've got until early Friday morning to get the truck in shape for the trip to Prince Edward Island. Got a long standing driveline noise that I think might be an axle or carrier bearing and there might also be a U-joint going away.

Super/Pro winner today was one of our regular track setup crew. Doug Desveaux took his 1966 ex-Connie Kalitta dragster to the winners circle. His dad Ron put him in the car this season and he took to it like a duck to water.
