Rained out at CB Dragway - Finished 5th in points - Done for the year - Budget is all gone - Car has a weird bug - Truck and trailer performed flawlessly all year. Last year the car was great but the driver sucked - this year no driver errors but the car kept screwing up. I guess that's just racing.......
Had an offer from a local business to finance our trip to Miramichi for the ADRA Team Race but with the weird problems the car is having lately and my brother Spencer the Saturn expert not making the trip I don't think we would be consistent enough to do anything. This year has really turned me off on computer controlled, sensor equipped, fuel injected vehicles. Spencer has had his scanner hooked to my Saturn at almost every race this year and has been able to at least keep it running but the consistency of the past couple of years is gone. The car lays down just for a second at odd times but never in the same gear or the same point on the tach and it's got us almost crazy trying to figure it out. Car will go into storage at Dad's until next spring and this winter I'm going to dive back into the tube chassis SBC powered version that's been sitting untouched on the jig table for the past two years. Got 90% of the parts needed to finish it now and all that's left is the actual work - most of it cutting and welding. Car will be light so it won't take a lot of HP to get it into the 10.90 class.
Also seems that this board is dying like thousands of other forums since the advent of Facebook and Twitter. Not totally unexpected but to me it's a little sad. We ran into the exact same deal with the Maritime Drag Racers board but a core group fed up with the drama on Facebook has kept the board somewhat active during the racing season. Any of you that are not bored with my rather lengthy posts are welcome to follow me on Facebook - just do a search for Don At Maritimedragracing.
