I have a question about synthetic oil. My old Honda Accord has about 250K on it and it burns a quart of oil about every two weeks. I know synthetic oil is suppose to be good for old engines but at about 8+ dollars a quart that is going to be pretty expensive unless it will stop the oil consumption. Do you guys have any experience with synthetic? Or should I just go with a little heavier weight in the summer or an additive? Any help appreciated.

For the past almost 50 years I have been using heavier than recommended oil in every vehicle I owned. Mostly 20W50 and always a can of STP with every oil change. Some of the really old worn out stuff got two cans LOL. The only ones I ever blew up were high mileage 283s with huge solid lifter cams that tended to fly apart around 8000 RPM.

Don I forgot about the old standby STP. I will try that the next oil change and I had planed on going to a heavier oil for the summer too. I don't think I can twist the Honda to 8 grand so I won't be doing any endurance testing like that!!!!! Thanks.

Okay I found pictures and some say it is 47-48 Ford and others say it is 42-48 Ford. Well at least I know it is Ford for now.

Don is there a spell checker on the message board? I thought there was when I had Windows 7 but since I went with Windows 10 I lost the spell checker on everything. Checked the settings for typing and I have it enabled but it doesn't seem to worx, worc, work.... you know what I mean.
